Digital Colony, a global investment firm that includes Marc Ganzi’s Digital Bridge, has acquired Spyder Facilities, a U.K. wireless infrastructure company with over 5,000 wireless locations. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Working in conjunction with our mobile operator and landlord partners over the last 20 years, we have built Spyder into a highly regarded player in the digital infrastructure market,” said Andrew Saunders, Director of Spyder. “As we shift to the internet of things and other next generation technologies, connectivity is more critical than ever, and this partnership reinforces that goal. We are excited to be joining the Digital Colony UK platform to enhance our mutual capabilities.”
Digital Colony’s UK platform currently includes StrattoOpencell, the UK in-building service provider having delivered more than 3,000 radio nodes across 150 sites offering full multi-operator service, and iWireless Solutions, a service provider that delivers outdoor small cell and wireless connectivity solutions to some of the largest and highest profile venues in the United Kingdom, including smart cities, transport hubs, stadia, airports, tunnels and large-scale campuses. The addition of Spyder complements the UK platform and positions it to offer an even wider range of services to mobile network operators and real estate.
