Vandals caused $15,000 to $20,000 of damage to a cell tower in Garberville, Calif., a small town 200 miles north of San Francisco, according to a police report.
A contractor for a wireless company witnessed two juvenile males carrying bolt cutters with dogs running away, as he drove up Pratt Mountain wireless radio tower site. A Humboldt county sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene and reported that every building at the site had been broken into and damaged.
Sheriff’s officers tracked one of the dogs to the home of a 14-year-old male, who matched the description of one of the suspects. Subsequently, both suspects and their parents met with the deputy who ultimately issued each juvenile with citations for felony vandalism.
